Traveling through Big data How companies could improve their business without customer`s data? Or could the government bring new programs up within their plans without understanding society`s growth? Organizations need to understand the preference and behavior of customers to enhance insights, here is when Big Data appears.
Big Data is a large set of information collected through the Internet to analyze and improve business through the creations of new insights to retain and reach new customers and information in general. A good understanding of Big Data could enhance insight, decision making, and process automation. (Gartner, 2020)
At the beginning of 2000s, Doug Laney created a definition of Big Data, the Three V`s gaining 3 concepts that are used nowadays to explain Big Data: Volume, Velocity, Variety. (sas, 2020)
- Volume: Data are begin collected from different sources such an example, Business Transactions smart (IoT) devices, videos, social media etc.
- Velocity: Companies must get information in real-time. The Internet`s growth allows to be fast and different tools could speed the result.
- Variety: Data can be found in different types of formats. Structured (numbers) and unstructured documents (emails, videos, audios)
Big data and Digital Marketing.
The role of Big Data in Digital Marketing is ongoing to be a significant tool to improve customer service and business overall. For example, Big Data could be used to create personalized campaigns targeting individuals to engage audience with services, understanding previous behavior through the results of Big Data. (Cube Labs , 2020 )
Certainly, Big Data is driving the way to set new digital strategies, recognizing customers' needs and behaviors. Companies must be aware of data and interpret it.
Nevertheless, this process is not just taking data for everywhere, it must drive an intention to create a strategy to enhance customer relationship and revenue overall.
